How do I remove CTR pistons from GSR Rods
Hey whats up guys? Anyone know how to remove pistons from rods? I don't have a press but I do have a vice and a heater torch. Can I head up the rod and hammer out the wrist pin??

I wana get some feed back before I do anything dumb! Thanks

MAN 220 plus people have seen this and no one knows how to do it!!! This the where the Honda motor builders live!! Where the wizards at!!

the thing that you need to press out is call the "wrist pin"
i like to heat them up with a torch then knock them out with a soft hammer.
some people press them out with a press
the choice is yous but these are my 2 methods

Keep in mind that they can, but don't always, come out without screwing up the pistons. Every machine shop I've ever been to has a pretty big can of junk pistons right next to the press. Why specifically are you taking them apart? Planning on re-using them?
yes i plan on reusing the rods the pistons are trash. If i heated them up with a torch, a soft hammer will knock them out? How long to i have to heat them up?
You need to heat the small end of the rod so it expands a little and releases the pin. Use a press or a couple of sockets and a bench vise as a press. Try not to hit things with hammers.
Or you could just go to a machine shop and give them $20 to do it for you. It should take them ten minutes and you'll have the peace of mind knowing you didn't mess anything up. If you're building a motor its a good idea to start the relationship with your machinist early anyway.

I've done them with an air hammer before. find a deep socket that just fits the pin and put the piston on a block of wood with a hole for the pin to go through. Hammer on the socket with the air hammer.
