Hi, this vehicle was towed to me for steering rack replacement.
After finishing the job i noticed trans shifted kinda rough.
The owner called me when driving it home, said it would barely move.
I met up with them and checked the trans fluid. It was at proper level and looked ok. They tried to drive it a little further but it quickly got to the point where it wouldn't move at all in any gear.

Then I found out the car was towed to me with the rear wheels on the road.
The prop shaft was not disconnected.

I'm just trying to figure out how to proceed, can i assume the trans is toast?
Or is it a transfer case issue? Maybe the transfer case is part of the transmission..
This is auto trans BTW.

 

The trans is toast. Shop or tow truck operator should have known better.

 

And the vicious coupler is prolly gone too...

Point out the sticker on the inside of the hood that explains "towing this car" to the tow guy

 

i don't think this vehicle has a VC.
there isn't one on the propshaft.
i doubt it's inside the trans.

anyway, i pulled the trans and had it rebuilt.
trans guy said the torque converter failed and sent shrapnel through the trans.
