Swapping gear set and diff into different trans case
Hello ht-
I ended up getting a s80 gsr transmission with oem LSD. This trans has all new sycros, bearings, and seals. Unfortunately the casing is broke where the rear t bracket bolts. I have another s80 housing and was wondering what is involed with swapping my good gear set and diff into it? I've heard some shimming may be required? Has anyone done this that maybe can give me some good advice?

Shim the diff and mainshaft.
If the diff uses tapered bearings it requires tools from Honda. Mainshaft requires tools from Honda. Cheaper to pay someone else with the tools to do it than to buy the tools.

For diff can't bearings be heated and pulled with a 3 point puller? And what tools would be needed for main shaft? Would t the shim go on top under top bearing?
Shimming the diff doesn't require removing or installing the bearings. For the mainshaft you need the base and holder from Honda plus a dial gauge and plate to mount the gauge holder on. Shim goes in the case above the top mainshaft bearing.
