Would I need a tune for my s2k?
Might be in the wrong section so if I am mods please move.
I plan on purchasing a s2k some point In July. I have come from a platform of turbo cars. Owned 2 evos and a sti and a srt4.
I don't plan on going boost right away with the s2k I mostly want to do bolt ons to it.
My question is if I do these bolt ons
4-1 Headers
Intake manifold
Throttle body
Intake
And single exhaust
Would I need to get the car tuned? A few people told me its not necessary, figured I would ask on here.
Might also do mild street cams.
Thanks

i would...tuning is where the most power is to be had out of this car in NA form anyway...but dont be surprised if you dont make a lot with those mods...power is very hard to squeeze out of this car NA
Ya I figured that much. It's mostly to make it a fun quick car before I go boost.
What ecu do people run in the s2k for tuning?
I assume u run hondata and to do that wouldn't I need to switch ecu to a obd1?

honestly, id just run a piggy back with a VAFC with what you have planned...and hondata with this car doesnt work like it does with civics and integras...you have to run k-pro and swap a few sensors to run hondata or run an AEM EMS, which, in my opinion, would be the better option
With any mods, if you want to get the most potential out of them, you should get it tuned.
Also, if you are planning on boosting in the future, I'd just save money for the boost.. you wont see much power out of those mods..

if your going for power skip the na mods and go fi. you're not going to gain much power in na, maybe 15wheel tops
this car isn't like a wrx or evo where you can just tune it and gain quick power, it's pretty maxed out from the factory until you go fi

Agree with everyone else, only the 00-01 make much power from a tune but that's because it just brings it up to 02-03 stock levels lol. The S2000 is pretty well tuned from the get go anyways and the big horsepower numbers are in forced induction!
not sure where you got your information from, but its wrong
From what I've read on s2ki typically the 00-01 ecu's run more rich in the upper rpm band causing the car to lose quite a bit of horsepower compared to the 02-03 ecu's. It's not just one case it is several. I honestly don't know how that is retarded? It makes sense if a car is tuned rich from factory that it will make bigger gains then tuning a car that is already tuned more lean.
