car only starts with jumper cables
91 si with a LSV swap.. when my bro first got the car.. it only starts when it wants too.. and he didnt want it no more so i bought it off of him.. when i looking at it i notice that the ground was bad.. so i ground it in a different location and it magically starts all the time with no problems or what not.. after awhile it would stop starting and i would have to turn it a few times then it would start.. so i got home took the starter out put a different one in and no start.. then i put the old one in and it starts right back up and works for like a week or two.. then stops again.. notice that my connections on my battery was loose and crack..got new terminals.. tighten it back up and now it only works when i jump the car.. why did i randomly decided to jump the car? i had left my radio on all day and it killed my battery before i had got new terminals.. so i jump the car.. starts fine and take the jumper off and it still runs.. turn the car off, start it back up and it starts.. leave it for ten minutes off.. go to turn it back on does nothing.. lights come on and everything, turn the key and only here a click from the starter.. go to jump again starts right back up.. cant seem to figure out where the problem would be at.. any ideas and every ideas helps.. thanks
why dont you start by getting a multimeter and finding out if the alternator is charging the battery..
if the battery isnt going to charge, then it will only die on you later.

I agree with 24ten it probably has a bad battery take battery out and have it tested before you buy a new one, also the more grounds you have on that motor the better.
Bad cell in battery. It may show 12v on meter but wont provide enough cranking amps to turn the motor over. You can jump it, it WILL run off the alternator, but you can charge it for a month and it won't matter.
forgot to mention that i did switch out battery with a new one.. does the same thing.. and with my old battery, it is able to start my bro car just fine.. something else? imma get a multimeter today and test the alt.. and get multiple grounds..

Yeah, that does change things up a bit. Definitely check all the grounds and maybe, I hate to say it, the main relay... That sucker is responsible for alot of weird intermittent problems, especially when the weather warms up.
so let me get this straight. to date you have changed out battery, terminals, starter...all without taking a multi meter to it and testing to see what the hell is getting power. am i right?
yeah my last eg was like that.. until i finally got a brand new one.. any how with my rex fuel pump kicks on and everytime so i dont think it be the main relay... gonna check the grounds again after work when i get home.. i was thinking maybe my clutch switch since it came with remote start and maybe last guy didnt know how to wire it up or did it wrong..
May not be the main relay, but it is worth checking. It does more than just power the fuel pump. Also supplies power to the ECU I think, and maybe some other stuff.
Have battery and possibly alternator checked to see if they're good, re-do battery cables and add the proper grounds to the negative side (Neg cable goes to the body and to the transmision).
"I need to jump my car to start it, so let's change the starter."
I don't get the logic, mind explaining it?

like i said before, you need to find out if your alternator is charging the battery.get a multimeter and make sure the alternator is outputting the 12v to the battery..

this, and im not calling you out or anything, but you are sure you have the cd player hooked up correctly?if you have it hooked up to straight power, then it will just drain your batter..
i got 12.7v to the battery with out it running then i jumped it to see if it the volts went up and it did.. between 14v and 15v constant.. i let it run for a little then took the neg of the battery while it was running and the car didnt die.. and after i turned the car off the meter read 13.2 so i take it that the alternator is doing its job
*EDIT* i didnt cut the harness either.. the car came like that.. im strictly against cutting any kind of harness with my cars.. i just so happen to get a car that way

exactly.mess with them grounds.move them to a better spot if you have to.
Okay, just looked at mine for the first time ever, lol. It has an external solenoid. Did you replace JUST the starter or all of it? If you just replaced the starter, then I'm about 1000% sure there's your problem.
