Default eg hatch with gsr dash CEL doesnt work...

hey guys jusy bought a eg hatch that has a gsr dash in it and the CEL doesnt come on at all when you turn to key over to power. i dont know how about going to get this fixed because i have never done in install like that and was wondering if anyone has any ideas? thanks

the ecu not showing anything is a very common sign that the ecu is faulty..

Pull out the cluster and see if the PO removed the CEL bulb. Common sketchy way to sell a car with problems without telling the buyer.

car runs fine just doesnt show the check engine light just wanna make sure there isnt any CEL's or any future ones. i checked the bulb and its in there and even switched it with another bulb

well the ecu should have a light on it that will flash red if you have a code.under the passenger carpet under dash..

its a p72 ecu there is no red light on the ecu

That's only OBD0 ECUs, IIRC.

OP, when you jump the service connector, does the CEL come on?

no it doesnt come on im wondering if the wiring in the cluster since it has a gsr dash and cluster isnt wired right?

It sounds like there's a problem in the wiring between the ECU light and the ECU. Your best bet would be to get a wiring diagram for the gauge cluster you have, and see where what's in the place of the wires that should be there.

Does voltage reach the CEL bulb socket with the key in ON(II)?
