Have a car thats ben giving me trouble, im out of ideas. Car will crank but not start if it is hot out/is in the sun all day. At this time of no start it does not have any spark and tach does not show rpms. Followed honda service tree and replaced the igniter. Still same problem. Have good power and grounds, ECU has been replaced as well due to water damage. Vehicle did not seem to do this before replacing the ECU but weather wasnt this hot. Tried plugging in old ECU and condition does not change. Scoped the white wire from ecu to distrib. Signal is good. Can not find any more info this problem so ive turned to fourms. Please can someone with lots of honda know-how help me!! Once vehicle does start it will stay running and not shut off while driving if that helps. Ive tried locating the cam or crank sensor but cant seem to find them? Not sure never worked on a honda befor.

 

you need to get a multimeter or a 12v lamp and

remove the cap from your dizzy.youll see your coil at the top.there are two points (+positive and -Negative).measure volts at the two points while cranking when it is giving you problems.if your crank angle sensor is bad,the ground will cause it to not make a full circuit.

replace your dizzy,be happy

I JUST fixed this problem on my integra..

 

ive checked them with KOEO and they both have 12.3v Batt. voltage.

 

but you dont have spark right?there's a chance it could just be your ignition control module..

 

replaced it nothing changed

 

best way to do it is to swap distributors with a known working one to see if it changes anything.

 

you might want to check the ignition switch as well...

 

you said the ECU was replaced due to water damage, did you carefully inspect your plugs going into the ECU for corrosion on the wires/pins? Do you have a wire diagram for your car?

 

Yes all connections were cleaned with cleaner and yes I have Alldata access for diagrams. Heat / sitting in the sun seems to be a factor. Car will always start on first try after sitting in the shade or in the morning when it's cooler out
