Default tach and engine temp gauge going weird

i know the tach acting up is an issue with the coil going bad on a dizzy which i can address soon enough but the temperature gauge acts up sitting on idle for 30 minutes in shop driveway it would read on H and i know the fan operates normal and kicks a ton of air. but when i drive the car both the tach and temp gauge go all over would the coil going bad cause both gauges to go bad ?

actually,if the tach is acting up,id be looking more at the ignition control module.the icm sends a signal to the tach, not the coil.

also,i dunno if youre using a multimeter, but the blue wire going to the dizzy is the tach signal wire if im correct..

it's strange that your fan would act normal with the temp gauge acting up though..it's still possible that it could be your temp sensor or thermostat..

well the fan would work sitting in parking lot but it would be on the H so idk if it is working 100% but driving down road i dont see how the temp guage could go from H to lil below normal warmed up temp and right back up to H again it was like a signal or we i though

im going to check all my grounds again to see if something isnt grounding correctly i put new ground and power wires on the car and i also spliced the wiring at the dizzy :/ kinda a dumb mistake but i dont think its at that connection

Check what the resistance is suposed to be for the coolant temp sensor and see if it's there. Or just try replacing it

that kinda sounds like a temp sensor problem..but i have no way of testing that..

almost every time a temp sensor goes bad,the fans will act up when,in fact, you are not overheating..

im going to get another thermostat and try that first its new but who knows havnt really run car that much since i installed it. shooting for trying tomorrow to see if that helps the temp gauge as for the dizzy i will test with a new one once temp gauge is figured out rising temp worries me and i dont want to drive it that much with it acting up

well found out the issue i have been having is that i ran the ground wire directly from battery to trans it was all new and i never placed a ground wire to inner frame rail once i did that everything has been acting normal all week but idk why it just now stopped working but it is running normal
