outer tierods have been replaced ..... steering is eractic... unpredictable and tracks all road irregularities bumps, cracks etc and there is an occasional knock/thump noise from the left side... it appears the left wheel is about a half inch closer to the inner fender and rubs the fender well... recently acquired this car owner said tie rods were replaced an supposedly fixed at the tune of $550 so whats the fix? ....complete front end?

 

Did he get the car aligned?

Take it to an alignment shop. They usually tell me if they can align the car or not, and tell me what's wrong with it, at the shop I've gone to get my cars aligned.

They should also be able to see what's up with your wheel.

Or if you know abit just jack up the car, take off the wheel and check them yourself. There shouldn't be any real play (Twisting or loose parts) in the outer and inner tie rods. Check your ball joints if you're in there aswell.

Sounds like somebody hit a curb and something is bent.
Or maybe the LCA was replaced with the wrong one.
That would explain why the wheel sticks out further.

 

An alignment shop will let you know if something is majorly bent.
