Default Another way to test bad fuel pump?

My 95 Accord LX has me stumped. It cranks well but never turns over. I suspect maybe no fuel or bad main relay. I am wondering if the test I just conducted (below) is a way to tell if it IS the pump.

What I did was loosen the fuel pressure relief nut on the fuel rail. Then I had a friend turn the ignition key to the furthest position before cranking. Result: I saw just a small, brief leakage come from the nut/fixture. No squirt or stream as I would have expected from fuel under PRESSURE.

I will probably still take apart the dash to get to check the main relay, but did I just determine that fuel is NOT getting to the motor?

Thanks,

Mike

the manual has you actually crack the line open and squirt fuel into a cup.
you could have a bad pump, clogged fuel line. or a clogged fuel filter.

You should actually get a fuel pressure not just see if something is flowing.. There is an adapter that goes on to the fuel line and fuel at 20psi and 32psi will "squirt" the same but will not alow the car to start. You dont have to take apart the dash to get at the main relay.

Thanks for your reply. I dont have the adapter that's why I didnt try to mesaure with my fuel pressure guage. But, since I am not even gettig a 'squirt', I think its safe to say I have VERY LOW to zero fuel pressure. Can you describe in a sentence or 2, how to get to the main relay? Thanks.

BTW, I have been told I should be able to HEAR a good relay clicking when I turn the ignition key. Would you agree that's true?

The main relay is simply a type of switch. If you're getting any fuel pressure the problem is not the main relay it's the pump.

Honda OEM fuel pressure gauge part number is 07406-004000A

It should be up under the dash to the left of the steering column look at a pic of one then look under the dash it's pretty easy just takes alittle time
