Icon2 1998 Civic Misfiring and Hesitating

Hi all, I am new here and have been reading the forum for a while but haven't found anything like what is going on with my car. I have a 1998 Honda Civic HX. All of this work has been recently done:
Timing belt/water pump
spark plugs and wires distributor cap
oxygen sensor
cleaned iacv valve
fuel filter

It was running fine then all of a sudden had random misfires and this progressed to hesitation as well (mostly while at low RPMs). It also seems to be burning oil or else leaking, I have to regularly give it oil. There was an exhaust leak that I had fixed and it seemed to start running worse after it was fixed. Wondering if anyone can help me figure out where to go next or if I should even mess with fixing it? I am tired of throwing money at it!

What CEL codes are thrown?

Check your compression it's possible you've lost compression in one of the cylinders.

Yeah it's completely stock. I'm not sure what the codes were, took it to auto zone and they said there was a misfire on cylinder 1 and 3. I can take it to honda this week and get the actual codes and have the compression checked. Thanks for the ideas!

You can pull he codes yourself now by jumping the service connector. See CEL sticky. Post the codes. Then reset the ECU and drive the car to see which codes repeat. You only want to troubleshoot those that repeat.

Okay, went to pull the codes and the CEL light had turned itself off, would the codes still be stored? I drove it today and the CEL did not come back on but it is still running bad, it seems to run worse when it is hot out (about 98 degrees today).
