bought a 94 hatch
Picked up a decent 94 hatch this evening
its been swapped out
The engine code is a D15Z1
the transmission is geared taller than any honda Ive ever driven
I mean its TALL!!!!
almost to the point of me not liking it
the valve cover has the VTEC-E insignia on it
so couple questions
the heat doesnt work
I tried sliding the slider to no avail
when I got home I got under the hood and located the valve
and MANUALLY flipped it
still no heat
any tips on that?
also about halfway home the check engine light came on
its as if he had reset it knowing some small hidden problem would surface
so Ill be trying to find out what code is bein thrown tomorrow afternoon
and lastly it seems to need a head gasket
its as if its a slow leak
is this lots of trouble?
ive never done it

Interesting..... I drove it 25 mins home didnt overheat
I did have a slight exhaust smell
How can I diagnose that it is indeed the head gasket?
I did see a small amount of fresh oil on front of engine

Hints of a blown head gasket:
-overheats
-exhaust bubbles seen in coolant of reservoir and radiator
-oil in coolant
-coolant in oil
-burning oil (blue smoke in exhaust)
-burning coolant (white smoke in exhaust)
Only one of these symptoms is sufficient to consider a blown head gasket.
