Icon6 EF Suspension Tale

lol after a year now of riding on my 50$ egay coilovers
i'm putting myself to the test of self discipline at using my new credit card.
i'm a 20 year old kid and are trying to get things done right.

after going out and doing it "dougster" style and blowing all my shocks
i figured it was time to say **** it and buy a set of Function and Form Type 1s
so they're on there way and should be here by June 21's.
pretty ecstatic about that since my brother has them on his 91 CRX
and they ride amazingly with as low as they are.

so, i'll bounce around on my egay springs and blown shocks for another week until they arrive and i'll be sure to post pictures for those of you who are curious as to how they look slammed ... because that's my goal lol.

10k front, 6k rear. 588$ shipped.

this is my car Dougster Style and i LOVED how low it was too. just couldn't do the bumpyness on an 80 mile commute back and forthe to work 5 days a week on these horrid roads.

hahaha. yehh. I had to use 2x4s to get it out of my driveway because my tow hooks up front wouldn't allow me to go anywhere. and while it was sitting like this it was actually sitting tire on the back wheel wells. so I took the shock back out and put some think rubber bump stops in to raise it up about half an inch XD

as stated before, it was all put back together three days later with my shocks Blown and oozing out oil XD

Slamming a car on $550 F&F coilovers is not doing it right, either.

Remember that you get what you pay for when it comes to suspension.

lol, compared to using 50$ sleeves from ebay, and not riding around with any springs at all ... i personally consider Function and Form Coilovers to be big progressive step. but thank you for the constructive information. in the future i may buy Type II with custom spring rates ... but then i'd have more money in my suspension than my car is worth at this stand point.

well, possibly a slight delay on the suspension coming in tomorrow (today for most people, but i haven't gone to sleep so ... )
i noticed that since the 18th, the status of my order had stated "billing information received". so i emailed the seller from ebay and asked why my order was still in the same spot that it was 3 days ago. they stated that they had contacted UPS and they said they may have lost the package in the warehouse and to give them between 24-48 hours to investigate.

ebay provider said that if it came back faulty in the investigation that they would provide me another set, free of charge ASAP.

then about 6 hours later i checked on the status of my order and it changed to "in transit" so ... the projected date is now tuesday of next week. but it left Cali this morning at 1235. so we'll see how it goes. if it travels all night and all day, then all night again i hope to get it by late friday evening. we'll see tho.

still anxious.

function and forms are here in my area now. sent from NoCal. Should be shipped sometime between 5am-7pm I believe is their shipping times. it was sent from Greensboro at 11:30 to my Salisbury area and that takes an hour. so ill wake myself up by 10 and see if they're here. if not I'll wait all day until I have to work at 3.

I'll def update to show pictures and heights at certain settings.
kind of anxious that after 1w2d they arrived finally.

meh, i'm fine with my ebay jank.. softer spring rates make the ride a bit more tolerable for as low as i am. my buddy had koni/gc on his del sol and the ride was entirely too stiff for a dd. just make sure you've got bumpstops long enough to keep from slamming into the wheel well and call it a day. IMHO, insane spring rates only belong on herrafrush cars to keep the fender off the wheel.

haha, supposedly the word on the new ebay coilover sleeves (DNA Setup) is to be a spring rate of only 300. i can't recall where i had read this but i do remember seeing it

so they finally came in this past Tuesday. i lowered them all the way down. as some stated they did slam the rear to where i was tucking half tire on my fat fives. i have pictures on my iphone but ill get to uploading those this weekend as i work out the kinks. ive been riding my normal commute everyday with them and they are comfortable as hell on a light car being that my hatchback is approximately 1100 pounds.

as i measured from the wheel well to the ground, im at 21.5 in. in the front and 21 in the back. but we'll see what we can do about that.

I'd have gone with progress coilovers at that price point, or koni/gc.

Good luck tho.

Most likely a typo for 2100lb.

Can't slam those as much, y0.

20" ground to wheelwell rideheight or GTFO. That's how all the cool kids measure it.

I'm sure you know, but just to avoid confusion of others.

Proper measurement is from center of wheel to wheel arch, as tire pressure will affect measuring from the ground.

If you can't save $600 cash at 20 years of age you aren't doing it right.

Tire pressure, tire diameter, etc. all will affect the ricer "ground-to-fenderwell" measurement. As you said, center of wheel to wheel arch will be the same, regardless of the tire choice.

Indeed. There is nothing like breaking in a new credit card on a set of chinese coilovers. $590 now is only $2600 after a year or two of interest...

OP, here's hoping you pay those off--quick.
