New clutch time!
So, time for a new clutch and my mechanic is throwing some crazy numbers at me..just wanted to confirm with everyone here that the price is right.
He said:
$850 for Luk clutch
$300 for OEM AP1 flywheel
$500 labor
Now the labor sounds about right but as per this site and others I've seen, good clutches don't go for more than $500.. Also can't find an AP1 flywheel around anywhere..
What clutch do you guys recommend? I would love a stage 2 as I plan on a custom turbo setup down the road as long as it isn't over $800..
Also, I would really perfer an AP1 flywheel but what aftermarket flywheel would be comperable in weight, durability, and price?
Really wanted to do the work myself. I have all the equipment I need, just NO time with full time school and work..

Clutch is definitely on the high side for a Luk, $500 in labor seems pretty good for what's involved. Can't you just get the flywheel resurfaced?
For under $800 I'm fairly positive you can get a Competition Stage II clutch and Competition lightened flywheel.
Clutch will all depend on how much power and torque you are planning to make.
EDIT: oops missed the part about you wanting to keep stock flywheel. Then clutch should probably run you no more than $500 Even for as much as a stage V, which wouldn't be great for daily driving

You're paying too much for that clutch. Act pressure plate and disk should run you about $600, stage 2 comps can be had for $400 pressure plate and disk...
JUST got the Competition stage 2 clutch in with ultra-lightweight flywheel (8.8lbs) and OEM throwout bearing from that s2ki special and it feels goooooooood! I'll post up a review of my setup once I break this sucker in!
