Gas mileage
My 96 Accord's gas usually lasts around 290-300 miles before needing to go to the pump. I always fill until the pump stops and refill just before the 'E' line, usually lasts a week. I don't have a heavy foot, and almost never go beyond 80mph, only while passing cars, and don't rev past 3500 rpm.Is that around where my fuel efficiency should be? By the way it's an EX.
that probably sounds about right but that's not how you calculate mpg. When you fill up, fill up all the way. Clear the trip mileage meter. Drive until you need to fill up again. When you fill up, fill up all the way again. Now take the number of miles on the trip mileage meter and divide it by the amount of gas you put in. For example, if you drive 295 miles and put in 11.5 gallons of gas you would have gotten 25.7mpg, these are just numbers pulled from nowhere.
BTW, the 1996 Accord EX (4cly/5spd) has an EPA estimated mpg of 22 city and 28 highway.
