Default Advice on Rebuilding the B16a2

So pretty much my SiR has been good to me but ive noticed it doesnt pull as hard as my buddys SiR with same mods. So thinking why not pull it and redo the engine, its at 190 thousand km. Im not dumping all my money into it and buying a B18, im taking it into honda for the rebuild as a buddy works there and is helping me out. Wondering if there is any parts i should go for to upgrade it, arp studs and better pistons and rings, do diffrent valves and cams and so on. Its not like i gotta do it right now i could slowly start getting stuff together to make sure its worth it, baby steps right

PCT pistons would put you around 12:1 compression on a 81mm build. JDM P30 pistons would put you about 10.5:1. Stock PR3s will net you 10:1 even.

If you're staying under 11:1 compression just find some CTR or 00+ ITR cams, some dual valve springs, and call it a day.

If you go with the PCT pistons I'd probably run something like a Pro 1 cam or something similar to utilize the compression.

With PCT pistons and a Pro series cam I don't think 200whp is out of the question with the right supporting mods.

buy a b18. idk what money you think it's going to cost that your going to save in a rebuild. you'll do the exact same things and come out with 40hp and 30+tq more easy.

otherwise just do a basic rebuild. if you just want it for a good ole DD. use stock oem parts. its an oem build no point in getting a bunch of performance parts for a not performing engine.

Uhm a b18 is 4 grand....rebuild is costing me only the parts that i buy, like yes a b18 would be sick but really dont need it that bad Just rebuild it, put in aftermarket internals while im at it and boom done, one day if i get really into it maybe sell my b16 and buy a b18 but for right now, keeping it legit SiR is fine to me as my buddy with his SiR hydrolocked his and put in a b18 type R, dont need to copy him too And im debating putting a t3/t4 turbo on it that i got with another car i used to have, still sitting unsealed in a box, i know its not going to do anything crazy but i love the sound of a turbo

I think he's referring to a B18c5 or JDM b18c complete swap.

Grab a LS block, build that and go LS/vtec. You'll be glad you did.

^^that.

i bought my ls block for 150.
you only need the b18 block. no 4k needed.

even after cams/valvetrain/machinework/pistons/gaskets/vtec conversion my ls/vtec is about 3k.

to just make it run i coulda done it with 500-1k.

There have been plenty of people recently that have done H2B's and have had VERY pleasant results.
