pwr steering pump leak. can I take off the belt till I fix it?
Hey fellas, I just noticed that my ps pump is leaking and its leaking directly on top of my alternator! Leak only comes when motor is on . My question is ,can I take off the belt from the ps pulley without any thing else going wrong besides not having power steering. I just don't want it to keep leaking on alternator. Will this be ok toll I fix it?
Just replace the gasket and you should be fine but as you might already know you will not have power steering.
Rockauto has a gasket kit or if you know which gasket is leaking go to honda and replace that single gasket.

Yes you can, it will prevent the annoying noise and possibly save the pump if your leak is bad enough and you end up with no fluid for awhile. Once you lose most of your fluid the noise will go away and you won't have power steering but if you don't remove the belt you'll be putting unnecessary stress on the pump.
