Default 95 GSR with B16, good or bad???

alright heres the deal im selling my integra for 8k, and i found a 95 GSR with no motor and no front seats, for 1800, everything else on it is entact. I found a B16 engine from the place I would be buying this integra from, they want 1500, so i figure roughly about 3500 and I have drivable integra. has anyone done this, should i do this? what kinda of troubles would i run into.Is it possible to put a cable transmission in GSR or should i go with the hydroalic one which is 2500 instead of 1500. any help is much apprcieated, telll me what you think, or where i could find some good deals on motors, like maybe a GSR one for cheap so i dont have to worry about this. thanks

I have seen a 94 GS-R powered by a JDM B16A Sir-2 before so there is no problem with the motor bolting right in and everything, but make sure you get one with a hydro clutch, not cable.

also putting a b16 in will give you less torque on the bottom. My friend put a b16 in his teg and he has to lunch around 5000 rpm to geta good lunch.

Well, of course you are gonna loose torque but B16A's are far more easier and cheaper to get. This guy just sounds like he wants to get his car running. Not what i would do but to each is own.

Why not just just get a b18b or b18c1 motor? The b18b would have slightly less hp but would have more torque---faster in every day driving and probably just as fast in a race. With bolt-ons the b18b would be faster than the b16b with bolt-ons. The b18c1 would obviously be the best choice. More torque and hp all the way around.
Better yet, since you got it so cheap. Spring for the type-R engine and put an LS plate on the back. Then you'd have sleeper.

b16 you will regret it. thats probally hitting low 16's. with a heavy body teg and with little amount of torque, you'll hit some bad times. I rather go with a LS. I would understand more if you had a crx or civic. but not with teg.

hm.... just hard to believe that you are able to sell 94 integra ls for $8000..

little confused though, why are you selling your 94ls and get a 95gs-r without a motor? so you can have the extra cash?

I'm so sick of these kinds post. Kids, don't use engine codes if you don't know what you're talking about.
Sorry, oh great one, please school me with the correct codes.

Anyway, you know what I meant, and the LS engine would be faster than the Civic engine.

dude, if you are getting 8k for your car, and you are buying the GSR for ~2k

put a nice motor in it, unless you are using the money for something else, now if you have a motor laying around, by all means, use that till you can get a honkin fast motor built for it!

b18b god damn it has no top end.
b16a god damn it has no bottom end.

Let the driver choose what is most important to him. For every pro there is a con. The b16a vs. b18a debate will never end.

Hold out for a B18C or you'll probably regret it later. If you can sell your LS for $8k, why don't you just try to buy a GSR with a motor?

Hey John, hit me up. I hafta put a new radiator in the teg this weekend, unless i can do it on friday. I found some place with b18c x-overs for 2200 shipped, thats the cheapest i have ever seen. A friend in asheville has a hookup on b20 blocks to to a franken motor. Either way, Hit me up, and if you see Shannon, tell him i got a magazine for him.

Peace

I'd go with the B18C5 ONLY if one can be had for only very slightly more than the B18C1. The typical price premium isn't worth it IMO.
