Default Can not get damn summit rpm switch to work

I have everything hooked up correctly except for the white wire on the switch. this wire is supposed to go to the blue distriubtor wire(im assuming its the one on top of the distributor). after that didnt work i was told it needs to go to the positive coil inside the distributor. that also didnt work. i did a search and someone said it needs to go to the negative coil for the rpms to be read...well i just did that, and when the white wire is hooked to the negative coil, the car wont start. the switch works and gets power, when i first installed to the blue distributor wire, the green light flashed on for a second when i revved, and never came on again. is it supposed to go to the negative coil or what?

The blue wire should be the right wire. You need to adjust the RPM switch. It has a little screw adjuster and the other dip switches to select an RPM.

My switch was way off, so I just fine tuned it with the adjuster screw while I held a steady RPM on the tach. What I did was hold the throttle at 3K RPM's and then adjusted the dip switches to 3K. Then I used the screw and turned it (forgot which way) until the light lit up at 3K RPM. Then I tested it at 5K and it was still correct so I was done.

Jeff I took my cap off to replace it with a external coil and I realized that it's the negative if you are hooking it up directly from the coil. Sorry for the miss infom. Try that and let me know what happens
