Air Intake Noise When Accelerating in First
EDIT: Problem is not just in first. Realized that after posting the thread title - happens in every gear, I just didn't manage to get a 2nd gear version of it in the video without having to break the speed limit. :x
Just got this new HX up and running about a week ago and have been really babying it, but a couple nights ago I decided to get up on it and was surprised to find that it makes this really odd air intake whooshing noise when it goes above about 4-5,000 RPM.
The car is totally stock and I swapped the head on it (With another VTEC-E D16Y5 head), so I would have seen a turbo.
I've got a video here - sorry for the darkness, but I work swingshift and like hell I'm going to pull that when I'm on my way to work (Schools letting out. D: )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YsKbR-2ysQ
Thanks guys!
Also, a side question that maybe someone can answer, I was checking the wiring the previous owner did on the radio (Which I'm going to replace anyways because the reception is terrible and who uses tapes anymore...) and when I pulled it out of the hole the dash lights went out. The blinker lights, shift light, etc all still work but there just is no more illumination.

ok I'll bite, it's completely normal. your car is sucking up a **** ton of air to keep operating above 4,000 rpm and it's all rushing through your intake and past your throttle body making a :whoosing" sound as you put it
I'll post pictures of it tomorrow, but is it normal to have as large of a gap between the air filter and the tube below it? (About 2 inches)
yes it's normal, it's just the way the air flows, my eclipse did it, and any tranversely mounted inline four will make the noise, just depends on the intake and your speed

Well I feel like an idiot. :/
I figured it was a problem since the other HX I had for about a month and a half didn't do that when I got on it.
