Need Opinions on Molding/Sideskirt Color Options
Over the past winter I did a complete suspension overhaul on my car with 100% new parts. I also decided it was time to go a different route with my exterior. I was running a Buddy Club 2 kit up until now with a Cwest rear bumper. I thought it looked pretty good, but like I said I think it was time for something new.
So this brings me to my current situation. As you can see in the pic I am running a USDM front bumper with a Seibon Spoon replica lip (JDM duct tape for now bruhhh). I will be installing a 99-00 USDM rear bumper and possibly some Mugen spats if I can find them.
I also bought new JDM thin moldings from ICB motorsport. My question is, would you guys:
1. Paint the stock side skits white and leave the thin moldings black?
2. Paint the thin moldings white and leave the stock side skirts black?
3. Paint the thin moldings and side skirts white?
Personally I am leaning towards option 1. Also, I am toying with the idea of running a Mugen Ferio wing. Thoughts on how that might look?
Finally the car will be getting 35% window tint.

Here's a quick Photoshop as to how white moldings/white skirts would look

I voted for option 3 but I would've voted 4 had I read that you bought new moldings which come black, beforehand.
Now onto the questions in your first post; worth noting that the order and number of choices in poll vs first post not uniform doe.
I would lean toward 2, 3, or black everything much more than choice 1 in the first post.
1. Paint the stock side skits white and leave the thin moldings black?
Black moldings with painted skirts will only flow with SiR bumper with painted lip, imo.
2. Paint the thin moldings white and leave the stock side skirts black?
This would flow fine. But, since you already have moldings in white, maybe leave the thin moldings black and you have two different looks, if you will.
3. Paint the thin moldings and side skirts white?
You can't go wrong with this with your current bumper setup; it'll flow well with cf lip and painted lip.
4. black everything
This will flow with your current bumper setup and with SiR if you eventually decide to go that route. It will flow with painted lip also.
You won't find nor want real mugen spats; ferio wing can be had pretty easily though and will look great!

Thanks for the replies guys!
BlazeD, thanks for replying, I was hoping you would have some input. When you say black everything, do you mean black side skirts and black moldings?
I thought heavily about doing the SiR bumpers but I'm torn on if I could handle the moldings everywhere. Personally I think the USDM bumpers look cleaner :I
The idea for the black moldings/white side skirts came from this car. I am thinking of picking up some Toda Grandmechanics if I can find a 16" set. I LOVE this car and thought something like this might look good

Yes, I meant black skirts and moldings when I said black everything.
A lot of people leave their thin side moldings black because they're easier to sell that way, if and when you do decide to sell them that is.
Battle could've left them black for that reason or because of his black wheels; purely speculation on my part ofcourse. IMO, leaving only moldings black kind of begs for a SiR bumper thus I brought up the SiR bumper.
I thought I replied to you in that other thread about the Todas; pretty sure they were offered in 15s only. And, even in 15s, they'll cost an arm and leg in 4x100; set ICB has is 4x114.3.

Hmm I talked to my friends yesterday about it and they mentioned something that I noticed too. The black sides make the car look a lot taller than it is since the door ends and the black side skirt starts. I think what I'm going to do is:
Get the oem side skirts painted. They are kind of in rough shape and I will give it a shot. If I hate how they look painted, I can just order new ones since they are pretty cheap. I'll leave the thin moldings unpainted for now because like BlazeD said, I might want to sell them. Also it would cost less to leave them unpainted for now
.
I'll update this thread when the car is all painted and ready to go
thanks again guys.
