Default Type-R Dual Synchros?

Hey HT, anyways I was looking around for a Type-R transmission just to replace my GSR one and after pages and pages of reading, someone said that the Type-R transmissions have dual Synchros, while the B16 and other B series transmissions do not. Can anyone tell me what exactly is the difference betwen dual sycnhros and "standard" transmissions, mainly performance wise and other ways, because if there really is no advantage I'll just opt for a B16 w/ Type-R LSD

Thank You

Dual cone synchro is basically a synchro inside a synchro. It gives the synchro a much larger friction surface to work on without needing much larger synchros (similar to how a twin disc clutch allows you to hold a lot more power than a single disc without need a clutch that's much bigger in diameter) Dual cone synchros should last longer.

Also, B16A trannys have a dual cone snychro for 2nd gear only.

So besides the extra grip, is the diffrence negligible between like smoothness and speed of the shifts, because I'm pushing around 300 whp, if that matters.

Dual cone synchros should slow the gear down faster, and there should be less wear and tear on the sleeves and gears.

Also, a Type R LSD wont fit a B16A trans unless you swap the final drive for a GS-R/ITR (OEM LSD GS-R final drive wont work either, it uses a weird 14 bolt ring gear)

OK, so my last question will be is the diffrence negligible (between dual synchros and "standard") ?

Thanks for answering my Questions

Your GSR already has a Dual Cone synchro for 2nd gear. As mentioned above B16 Hydro transmissions as well as Type R will also have the Dual cone synchro on 2nd gear

I am aware that all B-series trans. besides LS trans. have 2nd gear with dual cone synchros, but my main question is the fact that the Type-R has dual synchros on every gear, will it have a negiliable diffrence in smoothness, and feel compared to a B16 tranmission which only has Dual Synchros on 2nd.

That is not a fact, no other gear besides second has double cones on b series trans. The only difference on a type r is the differential. Now on certain six speed k series boxes that's a different story.

wow, okay well thanks for clearing that up

if it turns out that it's not true I'll just go with a B16 trans, and do all the adjustments needed swap it in my GSR and put on an LSD, preferably OEM Type-R
