my EJ6 build
well instead of posting multiple threads, i'll condense everything into 1 build thread.
This is my 98 EJ6 CX hatchy, it has who knows how many miles on it. carfax says 209k last, odometer says 139k, and dealer said 150ish haha.
Its a D16Y7 that i ASSUME has been rebuilt in the past, as it has compression across the board at 200 give or take.
I'm building this car mostly for fuel economy, as i have grown out of fast cars haha,
lots of doctor visits = need to save money on fuel for the next 2 years.
So this is how the car looked when i bought it a month and a half ago.

Ok the first thing i did to the car upon buying it, was replace the front brakes. pads & rotors as they were warped.
After that, its mostly just cleaning the car up.
Started with the headlights

Then i installed an ANSA silverline axle back, until i swap the cracked manifold, for an EX style 4-2-1 header, EX cat, and a performance EX midpipe (with Flowmaster Hushpower II resonator)

and today i tackled under the hood a little.

what does everyone think of the color? it changes from purple to blue, i also did the rad and condensor bracket with it for the time being, until i can get a new one of each from the dealer, or junkyard (providing that i can find one that isn't pitted beyond repair like mine)
So far my future mods, are to get the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and rad hoses replaced (going to a mechanic, who will charge me $175 if i bring the parts [from the dealer of course] lol)
also i want to try using a water to air intercooler in line with my air intake, and plumb the water ports into my coolant line, so that the increased temperature will help my fuel mileage, providing it doesn't start pinging from running so lean. (if this happens, i'll wire in a HX wideband O2, and use an HX ecu with lean burn to compensate for it)
also i plan on lowering it about 2" or so, and installing a lip, and foglights.
and a HX 5 speed transmission
maybe wheel skirts too haha
Currently with the intake and the muffler, i am netting a constant 41.5-44.3 mpg combined
My OVERALL GOAL is to hit 60mpg
I think it can be done without hardcore hypermiling.

so after tearing the car down to sound deaden the hatch i found some nasty looking rust along the bottom of the wheelhouses, so we patched that up, and welded in a bar to make sure it stays structurally sound for the next 2 years haha.
then i proceeded to sound deaden the hatch. used peal and seal from lowes, works awesome.

2 years i'll be moving to england to be with my boyfriend, and i'll pick up an ek4 to do some serious modding on there.
hee got a matching license plate to match my boyfriends haha. UK ftw.

umm so lets see. as soon as im done building my gaming computer, i'm doing amber fogs, side markers, 4-2-1 header with EX cat and b-pipe, 2" drop on tein springs, and a lip. paint the steelies black, and get the chrome beauty rings for them.
and in case your wondering what plate holder that is for the us plate on the side, its from a 2012 camry. it has a clip that will hold it to the horizontal plastic on the grill and follows the curve of the bumper
