Default Cheapest shocks?

Are the Toxico HP blues about as cheap as it gets? Just got my EP3 a few weeks ago and the one thing that kills me is the horrible shocks it's got. Bouncy as a ****.

Edit: Better question. Are shocks the answer to stop the bouncing? Basically all bridges and bumpy roads make the ride unbearable. Things in the hatch will fly up in the air it's so bad.

Get some Koni Yellow adjustable shocks. They allow you to adjust them according to your style.

So shocks are indeed what I need. I should also mention that the previous owner said it was on lowering springs.

What is the part number for the Koni Yellow set I need? I can't find anything.

Ah yeah, go back to stock springs or switch to full coilovers. Might even invest in changing out the shock mounts.

Front: 8610-1416 50mm
Rear: 8041-1281 50mm

I should have probably mentioned the budget. I really can't spend over $600 right now. So if I need springs I'd be looking at getting the Tokico blues($450) and some decent springs(with very little lowering, can't afford H&R OE sports).

You still havent stated what your current set-up is? If the prev owner is indeed correct that they are even lowering springs. For all you know its bouncy because its on ebay coilover sleeves or the struts are blown. Who knows? Might be helpful to pull off a front and rear wheel so you know what you have first. Then come here with that info so people can give you real helpful input. Alot of people will tell you, just get these, or if you can afford these, they are awesome. If you have a budget and want to upgrade anyways, than whats the point of this thread?

^Truth. Pull off one of the wheels and snap an up close pic of your setup. Tokico's aren't bad if you're on a budget. KYB's are a good choice as well.

I could stare at the setup all day and not know what I'm looking at. All my eye would see is some dirty springs(will take pics tomorrow). The point of the thread is to find out what the general consensus is for horribly bouncy rides and what is needed to solve the problem.

Good attitude, bro. Really helps a forum out.

I was in the same boat when I bought my ep3. Previous owner put ground control sleeves with a 2 inch drop on stock struts. Lowering springs + stock struts = Blown shocks and that's most likely what's wrong with your car. I recommend you do what I did. I got a used DC5 Type-R full suspension with only 15k miles for $200 shipped off ebay. I got lucky with the price but you should be able to find a set for $300-$400. All you need to install is RSX tie rod ends and shave the rear shock bushings about 3mm each and the difference in handling is like night and day. Considering it only cost me about $300 for everything, it was more than worth it.

Not saying buy anything super expensive but the shocks are your problem (to answer your question).

Up to the point I commented on this thread, I had given you the most useful and helpful advice. Not just telling you to go buy a $600+ set-up not knowing your budget. Was trying to find the real issue for you, and said it with absolutely no attitude at all. Re-reading my original post, I cant see any way you could have gotten butthurt about it...it was damn true dude.

looks like some cheapo no-name. But even with stock shocks and mild lowering springs (Eibach), it can still be a tad harsh. Nothing will ever be as comfortable as OEM. I'm currently running Eibach Prokit + stock shocks and its OK. Still can't really monster truck over manholes/bumps, but definitely better than my old Megan full coilover setup where I felt every pebble.

You can find used OEM shocks/springs around (www.ephatch.com or www.clubep3.net)

A hard ride kind of what I want...I don't mind a harsh ride and avoiding potholes I just want the damn up-down-up-down bouncing to stop.

First link is RSX a-spec suspension, second is DC5 type-r suspension. Both fully assembled with top-hats. Both sets are stiffer than stock but still oem quality

As for the original question, I think KYB GR2s might be cheaper.

I bought a set of 4 KYb's for my EM1 5 years ago, never had an issue. Just got them for stock replacement and love em! I paid 300 shipped.
