Icon2 Effects of straight pipe exhaust on performance ?

I have a 99 civic ex coupe (D16Y8) and its running a code for the catalytic converter. Basically the converter is trash. I really don't feel like buying a new one, and am thinking about just getting rid of it and the muffler for a straight pipe from the headers. I'm still new to Honda, and don't really know what the effects of that would be on the performance and mileage of my engine. Any insight into this situation would be greatly appreciated

Well as we know u do get a louder sound without a cat but you also can get a little bit more Hp. Also no cat is illegal in all 50 states I believe but yea I'd just put another cat on even if its a eBay cat

get a cat, you will not even realize the 2hp you "gained"

most hi-flow cats flow just as well as a test pipe, on your y8 you wont even notice, AND you wont sound awful
