Hey guys. Well a swap was in order but just not yet, as I'm going on vacation next month...Soo.. I was going to see if I might be able to fix this issue before hand..
1997 Honda Civic CX 67,000 original miles..All stock with no previous mechanical work done other than preventive maintenance.
This came without warning..
6:00pm..Heard a slight ticking...(like cards on bike spokes..but faint)
6:10pm..Pulled over and checked my oil. 1/2 quart low. Immediately stopped by and topped it off with required viscosity.
6:20pm..Noise still there.
I then realize that the ticking is slightly getting louder. Especially on higher RPM's. Even louder when driving in gear at higher rpm's and letting off the throttle (engine brake)
6:27..Pulled over to diagnose where the hell the ticking was coming from..Cylinder 4. Sounds like from the head but not quite sure.
6:38pm..Recorded this..
http://youtu.be/h4nTQk7Y6tI
6:40pm...found a back road and ran it in first gear at full throttle and then let the engine slow the car down (did this about 6 times)
6:45pm..Noise is very present now. Time to head home..
6:51pm Engine dies on it's own. It's never done this before now.
I know alot of you will say "check valve lash" but I have a feeling that it will either be:
A) Valve is loose and is kissing piston 4 (is that even possible?)
B) Main bearing or Rod bearing is shot
C) Oil pump is gone and is causing serious piston slap..(keep in mind, this engine is warm..)
I have not yet had a chance at taking the valve cover off to inspect it or check valve clearance.
This video was filmed 20 minutes ago as you can hear the ticking has progressively gotten deeper and louder.

Please check out the videos and tell me if I'm on the right path. It does not seem loud enough for it to be a spun bearing, But it also has a harder time starting than normal now and it's getting worse.
I appreciate anyone who takes the time for this..

Yup sounds like rod knock...
Next time your engines making weird noises it doesn't get fixed by redlining first gear 6 times
