B20 head vs B18 head.
i was once told that b20's have bigger valves compared to the b18 but i asked it on this forum and everyone said that they were pretty much identical and that they didnt have bigger valves. i dont know about the b18a though
b20's have bigger valves and they make more torque! you need an LS intake manifold. The advantages from a b18b over a b18a is, that the intakes flow better and slightly higher cam profiles.

Bigger valves = more torque? Ahhh thats why those 33mm intake valve diameter VTEC heads are so torquey.
The heads are the same, if there are slight 0.036546543290mm differences somewhere somehow, it doesn't matter. Why? Because you're serious about performance and are getting it ported anyway right?[Modified by teg92, 11:49 AM 10/21/2002]
The B20 head is the same as the B18B head (1994+). But both the B20 and B18B heads have bigger ports than the B18A (1990-1993) head. As for the 138cc difference, it is interesting how this small increase in displacement can make such a huge difference. But then again, the compression increase (9.2:1 to 9.6:1) probably also helps.
for all to know.
big valves = slow velocity at lower RPMs, they will flow more fluid (air/fuel) in a shorter period of time, meaning they will breathe better at higher RPMs. end result LOSS of lower end TQ/ higher RPM capability and likely more HP.
small valves = high velocity at lower RPMs, they will flow a small ammount of fluid over a set period of time, meaning they will run out of breath at higher RPMs. end result, HIGHER TQ/ smaller powerband.

i heard that b18a heads are ****. i heard that if i bolt up a b18b head to my b18a block that the head will give me 10 more hp. i also heard that b20 heads have better stock cams too.. what years was the crv make ?

what head has the bigger valves. i want low end power.
