Distributor Bolt is Stripped
Hey guys, My car has been MIA for about 2 years since I can't get around this seemingly simple problem. The bolt is stripped and I need it out in any way possible.

The car is a 1988 CRX Si D16A6, non running.
Any solutions or suggestions would be incredibly helpful, thank you!

I have something like Grab-it tools but it won't fit in the small space that I'm working with.
My vice grips just spin on the bolt and make it worse.
Any technique or pointers on how to properly use a vice grip for this situation?

put jbweld around the bolt. then put the vice grip on and let it harden together, on the nut. you've waited 2yrs, what's another 12hrs. should pop off with out any slipping. to get the hardened weld off, just chisel it off the vice grip.

i say hit the gym then try vice grips again. when i have a stripped bolt i make the vice grips virgin asain vajayjay tight and clamp them on, usually have to use both hands to clamp em down but it gets the bolt out. try soaking the bolt w pb blaster first.
had this problem before couldn't get anything to grab, so i just cut the head off the bolt and pulled off the dizzy then it was a cake walk with vise grips to pull the rest of the bolt out
I have the solution !!!!! irwin makes a socket for striped heads the special sockets are like a spiral easy out but on the inside of the special socket instead of on the outside so you dont drill anything just put the correct size socket on your rachet and unscrew it no effin things up they cost about thirty bucks a set of eight sizes
^^ might be a solution, but would they fit them down on that bolt head and let you put the ratchet driver on?
I've never had any luck getting a socket on that bolt.

What about a Philips on a 1/4 drive ratchet? If not I believe the dewalt sockets for stripped bolts would fit in that space, and those have worked great for me in the past.
OP you really haven't done anything to your car for 2 yrs cuz of this?

I still recommend the bolt outs but if you insist on giving the vice grips another try, take a strip of sandpaper and wrap it around the bolt head before clamping the vice grips on. It'll increase the friction between the vice grip jaws and the bolt.
Soak it in pb blaster a few times over a few hours then vice grips
Dont be a pansy when locking the vice grips, put them as tight as you possibly can so you need two hands and all your might to lock them on the best flats that bolt has to offer
If youre a pansy and cant get it, then that bolt is very asseccible to just cut the head off with a grinder if your careful and slow about it

You cant get a socket on it and neither can a phillip head. Me and my neighbor used a hand saw and it worked perfect! Good luck. Vice grips werent effect.
the sockets are the best option but u have to get the socket on the head of the bolt hitting it with a hammer and the vibration of u hitting it might help breaking it loose also try using a impact wrench.
