Specs on my car are here:

I owe $7500 to the bank for the EK (and maybe $5-10k in credit card debt for her... sucks).
Dude wants to trade me his 2001 Yellow ITR with AEM CAI, Apexi N1, CF hood, (2) 12" subs, and an amp. I would take his ITR and loan for $12,500 if I got it, and he would take my EK and $7500 loan.
What does everyone think? Is either one of us getting screwed over or being an idiot? Just want your opinion.

Well, the decision lies solely upon you.... by the way, you do have a nice car though... with all the Type R goodies... no matter what you do to your Civic.. it will always be a Civic... a hybrid with a B18C5... on the other hand... the ITR will always be an ITR--authentic, limited edition, one of a kind, etc.... and now it just comes down to your and your preferences... you've spent tons of money on your investment already... it's up to you whether you want to trade.... and then comes this question---why does the other guy want to trade his car for you car????

I think the trade is on him, but this "hatchback crap" someone sounds bitter.. Did someone get worked by a "civic"
Hatch backs are the Kings of the Race scene and Type-r, they are the prince's. and we all know the type-r integ's can never touch the endless limits of a hatch

Wow, hostility. I'm an EK Forum mod (not here..duh..lol) . I have loved EKs since I've known cars.
And..
I'd rather have a ******* Integra Type-R over any EK anyday of the week. Becuase they're faster, enough said.
Whats up w/ the whole hatch vs. R thing? its hatch/R vs. stunna

Personally, I would keep the EK with the ITR swap, and try to pay off some of that debt. But thats just me.
arno-who loves nice, clean, fast EKs

I dont think you guys have a fair trade there.
It would be fair to trade straight up car for car. But the current deal means you end up paying about 4-5k more.
So basically you get a slower car that will get stolen if you raent careful, and 5k more in debt.

i will say keep ur EK since so much chits that u had done to it~!
if u want some car that u might keep for ur entire life, trade it.
so... its all up to if u have that 5000 loan or not.

I don't think any of us ITR folk would ostracise you or pretend your car wasn't the real performer that it is.
Well geez guys, I was 99.5% convinced to go ahead on the trade, but now I'm having second thoughts. My wife wants me to 'cause she thinks we'd have an easier time selling an ITR vs. selling my car if we ever decided to get completely out of debt, and also the resale value on the ITR would be higher. EK hybrids go for $15-20k depending on condition and stuff. The ITR high books at $23k.
Now I don't know what to do...

keep your hatch. it's VERY nice looking and i'd say buy a better suspension and track that bad boy!
if i ever crashed my itr.. or whatever to it, i'd build an EK hybrid from my ITR.

well, it seems the consensus is to keep the EK. i'll definitely have to give this more thought before I make a final decision. I think if it was straight across, and I only ended up owing $7500 for the ITR i'd go for it in a heartbeat, but I do have a lot of time/blood/sweat/tears/energy/etc... invested into my EK.

Well if you do trade, keep in mind that you will still be carrying that credit card debt on purchases you will no longer enjoy. I always try to put myself into debt with tangible things that I can see, touch, and enjoy while I'm paying INTEREST on them. Trust me is sucks paying those interest fees on things that I don't even have anymore.
Good luck!

You should have thought of this question before you turned your EK into a type-r. Keep it, you can always go out and buy a type-r (if you have the money) next month, next year or whatever. You spent your money and put in the time already and have a dope *** hydrid to show for it, you have everything a type-r has on your civic plus weight savings...enjoy
