The CEL comes on because you are deleting your catalytic converter. The secondary 02 sensor measures cataylst efficiency.... So having zero percent cat efficiency sets off the light. The computer thinks your cat has failed, and will set a code for it. Having this code(PO420) does not affect performance, but you will fail an emissions inspection.

Don't get the race header confused with the shorty header. The shorty header doesn't delete the cat, but the performance gains aren't there.

Because the 2nd o2 is there to make sure the cat is working properly and filtering out the emissions that our car's put out. So with the cat gone, the 2nd is gonna get the same reading as the 1st o2. So the ecu them thinks that the cat is improperly working. Which should thro the code p0420 I believe. So with a defouler in place, it sets the 2nd o2 out of direct exhaust flow, which gives a different reading then the 1st o2, which tricks the ecu to thinking that the cat is properly working. I have a obx v3 RH which is the dc clone, and I get a cell from time to time with my defouler.

thanks everyone. i get a cel for one of the o2 sensors from time to time anyway so i might as well try a defouler. where can i get the best one?
(oops sorry i already found out i can get spark plug defoulers from an auto parts store) but what is the difference from the help brand 420002 and help brand 420009? i think im supposed to use the 420009 but auto stores normally stock the 420002
and prelude, i got the stainless steel race header cause i knew the shorty wouldnt make much of a diff with all the other restrictive pipes

I got mine off clubrsx for $25. I tried the 2 defoulers from autozone and bored one out to work but my CEL stayed on all the time with it. When i switched to the angled defouler from clubrsx i only get one every few months. And it seems to happen when i dont let my car warm up for a few minutes be fore driving
