Got a question>>>
NooB here w/ a question...
Here's the situation.. I was at the local hangout and see a late model Civic, has a 2 step studder box, 2 fuel injectors per intake runner and is running 60psi of fuel at idle and is on BFG radials.
There is no turbo and the owner claims there is no spray (nothing visible.. was wondering if he could've been hiding it in the intake tube).
People from around the car start saying the car has dynoed 290hp to the wheels and has gone 12.2's. Both of these feats have been allegedly accomplished on motor (supposedly the motor is a built stroker). Car has full interrior. It has a Vtech valve cover yet the owner claims it is the stock motor and went as far as to read off the block ID number located below the left most exhaust port.
When he started the car it sounded tame. No lope of any kind. It did have cam gears though.
He and all the people who were w/ him were talking a mad game but I had no money to run him so I stayed quiet.
Why would he need so much fuel and two injectors per runner if he was running all motor?
Please enlighten if at all possible.
Thanks

290 whp all motor is tough especially on a small motor like our honda motors. I have seen some heavily built 2.0L Vtec(CrVtec) motors putting close to 250 to the wheels but never anything as high as 300 all motor. Maybe one of the big name all motor cars on drag racing circuit might be pushing that high but I don't think any honda all motor streetcar has put down the kind of numbers you are talking about. Someone correct me if there is a street car out there putting out 290 hp to wheels all motor. He might be on the bottle.
Not without some kind of an idle lope...He had to have has nitrous...Was it a stock throtle body size???
That motor sounds like a ticking time bomb...

Thanks for the replies.
I won't be able to run him this weekend. I'm going to try to run him the Friday after next. :shakeshead:
azroth,
I'm not sure if the TB was stock or not. Didn't notice.

Here's another question since y'all have been so helpful.
Is it possible for a built N/A Vtech motor to be in the low 12's in a full interrior car?
Most everything I've ever seen at the track the car was stripped out and in the low 13's to high 12's.
Thanks again for any replies.
