2000 GSR Major Knocking Noise!
I have a GSR and just recently started knocking. Ive checked to see if the pistons and all that were bad etc, by running the car and pulling out the plug for the spark plug and the noise wont go away so.. its not the bottom.
People told be it might be the valve lifters.. I havent started taking everything off because i dont know what it is.
* Thanks for all the advice.

Looks like your gonna rule out the bottom, even the mains lol soooooo.
Must be in the head, inspect it, and maybe give more information pertaining to your build, and the circumstances of how and when the failure started to occur,
Ruling out the bottom end mentally does not give you a better chance of not having to replace it,
If the knock is a deeper rodknock racket that progressively increases along with the engine speed then?????

The motor is BONE stock. I've adjusted the valves before, because that was knocking then it fixed. Now it occurred again just louder, but i dont know where its coming from. It occurred after I took it to a pretty high RPM then the knocking started there. I'm just hoping its the lifters not anything to do with the rod bearings, main bearings etc.
And when i do rev it up the knocking does get louder...
Thanks for the help so far

absolutely know way of telling in a thread
you could make a video and let us hear it. besides that it's basically impossible to give you any meaningful advice when you say "my motor knocks, help"

I wouldn't have believed it, except I watched my Spitfire get troubleshooted this way. Noise went away with the #3 plug out, and half of the #3 rod bearing was sitting at the bottom of the pan when it was taken apart.
I asked my boss about that, [he builds monster trucks] and he agrees that it can work 50% of the time, if knock goes away it is a good bet it is a spun bearing but it is far from definitive as it depends on how, [severity] the bearing is spun, pulling a plug lead will always make a diff. as one cylinder is not firing but assuming that it is not the bottom end just because noise is still there, well you know what they say about assuming.
I sure hope for the OPs sake it is not a spun bearing, that gets costly and time consuming.
A stethoscope would help localize the noise. 94
