Default 2003 LX no pilot bearing??

Hey guys, new to the board and have a question for you guys..

my car is a 2003 civic lx non vtec manual trans.

So, I replaced the timing belt 30,000 miles ago, replaced the tensioner with an aftermarket durafail like a retard, and the bastard broke, and in doing so, broke my motor. the tensioner spring wore clean through the holder.. amazing.

Well, my next strep was to replace the motor, got a motor from junkyard with them saying its from a 2003 honda civic lx (which is what mine is).. well I looked up the vin to find out it was from a 2005 DX.. which has a few differences like im sure you guys are aware of.

One thing I noticed when taking out the old motor.. it did not a have a pilot bearing installed??? whats up with that?? the "new" 2005 motor which came from an automatic

Do i need to reinstall a new pilot bearing in the new engine? From the looks of it i don't need a pilot bearing? is that correct? I find this to be weird

Thanks in advance

Automatic's don't have pilot bearings.

You will need the pilot bearing and flywheel off the old motor.

Duralast seems to make the worst aftermarket parts IMO, main reason I don't shop at AZ anymore.

Well.. thats the thing... The new motor (from the 2005 automatic) HAD a pilot bearing installed.

The old motor ( 2003 manual) DID NOT have a pilot bearing installed.

If i hadn't taken and looked at these two motors out of the car, I would completely agree with you about what you said. However, it appears to be the opposite.
