Hi.

Here is the problem I’m having:

My 1997 Honda Accord EX 2.2 A/C stopped working. The Compressor clutch won't engage.

First checked system has pressure on both high and low sides, installed a relay from a friend car to discard a relay failure. Also jumped A/C pressure switch (this caused the fans to turn on and the idle to raise). Those tests not engage the compressor clutch.

I pulled out the A/C relay, on A/C relay plug, with switch on, have 12v on BLK/YEL and WHT cable. If I jumped the BLK/YEL and RED cable and the cutch engage. Check the RED/BLU cable has no power and no ground. Another think, if I grounded the RED/BLU and connect the relay to the A/C plug, the clutch engages.

When the A/C switch on the dash is on the condenser fan is running.

Any ideas? Please help me find an answer.

 

You are not getting the "ground" to the realy from the ECM via the red/blu wire.

What were the pressure readings from the high and low side....and under what conditions.

 

Can't check the system high pressure because adapter is broken. On the low pressure has 35 psi with the car off. With the car on and RED/BLU grounded has 45 psi.

 

Then this is not true?

Any work done to the car recently?

Willing to test the pins at the ECU? A15 should be the ground from the ECU.

 

I will continue with the troublesooting on Saturday. Really need back my air conditioner. It's verry verry hot in Puerto Rico.

 

Understand that....in order to help we really need to know the situation......hence the questions
