Icon2 Throttle Body Question

i recently got a 98 civic ex 4dr, d16y8 ej6. at some point someone decided to do a back yard cai install which tbh isnt horrible but i'd like a cleaner look.
my question is, in regards to my particular model all the diy's ive looked at indicate that the cai should mount from the side going toward the passenger side of the engine, but my throttle body however points upwards. on ebay whenever i look at a particular cai setup going by my model/year/trim etc, they all show a sideways mounted cai that should work for my car. does this mean i should be looking for a dx, or cx cai and just use the first section of piping (to me this looks like it would work, the only issue i see with this is the sensor connection?) or is this the difference between coupe and sedan cai setups? sorry for my ignorance but something doesnt seem to add up...its probably me though lol.

Thanks in advance for any advice, and or info.

ps - Hello! i'm new to the site

You have the d16y7 intake manifold with the throttle body facing upwards. Any cold air intake for the dx, lx, or cx will fit.

so obviously this means that someone would have swapped it at one point, and for what reason, or would it have come this way? again sorry for my ignorance.

Thanks for your response theartofmoving, much appreciated.

The only reason I see is downgrade :-D lol

It doesn't make sense at all. Are you sure you have d16y8, and not d16y7?

i'm sure - stamped right there on engine :/ i'll take a pic after work tomorrow

i may be wasting a lot of thought on this, and its not like it'll ever be a racing machine lol, just trying to figure out why it is the way it is. i know the person that bought this from new and i know they've never had this type of work done to the car other than regular maintenance...unless the shop where the car was brought to had a shady tech in their midst and did a quick swap?

my original question got answered, appreciate the input gents
