transmission/cv shaft help
1997 civic hatchback 5 speed. so i just put a new trans clutch through out bearing ball joint all new brakes (one new caliper) one new cv shaft (the other is 2 months old). and today i just put new pads on the car and i went to take it for a spin and started to shake on braking and you could feel the peddle every time it would make a full rotation. when i put the car on jack stands i here something coming from the passenger side on the trans. i am thinking it is the bearing that holds in the cv shaft and i was wondering it you can fix that without taking out the whole trans. this has happened to me before and then i changed the trans because i got a good deal on a new clutch with it.
Thanks again Matt

Re: transmission/cv shaft help
You sure you don't have a warped rotor or that your axle nut is torqued??? Kind of strange you'd just do a little brake work and it messed up your tranny... assuming of course the shaking wasnt there immediately after the clutch change.

i am sure i took off the rotor and the sound/wobble wasnt there anymore but when i put it in 5th (on jack stands) you can hear the sound every rotation.

Re: transmission/cv shaft help
so you only hear it with it in 5th gear? then yeah you may have some inner tranny issues... because you should hear it constantly if it's the part you're thinking...

Re: transmission/cv shaft help
like when i am going down the road the tranny shift smooth as can be and down shifting is smooth as can be as-well but when i put on the brakes thats when i hear to sound in or outta gear. but when the car is in the air you can hear it easier with out putting on the brakes. if you rev it in gear you can hear it but when its moving fast in 4-5th you can hear it clear. its hard to explain i took it to a local shop before and they wanted to replace the struts and said the sound is from the trans.

Re: transmission/cv shaft help
try a tranny drain... use synchromesh... run it for a couple hundred miles... I've seen that stuff stop grinds when I was sure the tranny would need a rebuild... if you give it a shot please post and let me know... I'm 2 for 2 now on synchromesh doing awesomeness hahahaha
