Found a civic wagon for $200
No rust, completely gutted, no engine, and no rear end. I am wondering mostly about the rear end. Would a ef civic rear end fit, or is it different because the wagons are awd? Do you guys think its worth it?
If the shell is in worthy condition then I would go for it.
However, I would go for a 2wd engine/tranny instead of trying to find parts to make it 4wd again.

Yeah id be swapping my d16zc engine in it, so would i put a ef civic rear end in it? How hard would it be to do that? I heard the wagons have a completely different rear end, so would i need to find a wagon specific rear end that isnt four wheel drive?
I would omit the 4wd completely.
Just put in the front wheel drive tranny from any other 88~91 (or cable-to-hydro kit and use the EG tranny).
No rear end. No drive shaft.
Just front wheel drive.

Only trailing arms that will fit are wagon arms (2 or 4WD). You still have to worry about the passenger-side mount pocket, any other tranny will mount crooked since this one is meant for a 4WD trans.

By looking at that.
If he has not changed out the back trim piece under passenger rear light.
It is a RTmodel (faint rt sticker lower right).
Which meant it used to be awd.
So this is what that means.
There is allowance for it to be awd.
Was rear subframe in it or still attached. Wagons can be removed unlike hatch, rex or sedan.
The transmission is totally different passenger frame rail hook up point different (rt versus fwd)
The standard tranny on an EF was two metal rods, RTAWD are cable (hole in firewall)
The trailing arms for a wagon are a different length compared to hatch, rex or sedan (longer).
The list goes on and on.
www.hondacivicwagon.com is a good source.
also body wise, need to make sure all the panels are there.
Wagons are the bastard son. Wagon outer body parts only fit wagon.
There is approx 2" difference in the firewall height so things changed.
To me it still has useable parts in it, cause hey I have a wagon.
But if you don't have all the parts laying around could get pricy pretty quick.

That is my old shell. I figured it would get passed around a bit. lol

It is an RT4WD model. I stripped everything I thought could be useful out of it for my daily RT4WD.
I do still have some parts lying around for it if you end up getting it. Nothing major as I will be keeping the drivetrain stuff, but I do have some misc interior plastics and the shifter assembly w/ cables.
As far as I remember it was rust free. The front "frame rails" are crushed on both sides from someone jacking the car up incorrectly.

Well due to the fact of finding 0 parts, at any salvages within 100 miles, or ebay etc, I decided not to get it. I would have a tough time getting it on a trailor anyways, and it would be sitting in my moms garage for about a year until I could find parts and money. So for now I will be finishing up the first part of my civic build, but when febuary comes around I am gonna drive my *** to texas and pick up a civic wagon damnit.
