Default Speedometer Not Working

Okay guys, my speedo stopped working on my 92 hatch, but everything else like the rpm portion, gas, temperature, etc works. It stopped working immediately after I let my friend drive it for the first time. He stalled out hard a few times, so could the jolts have affected something? Sorry if I sound like a noob. Any help is appreciated though.

Is the car stock? Pull the connector off the vss, does it look corroded?

I'm pretty sure it is the vss now. I just took it for a drive and I can't rev past 3750, which is what my launch control is at. It literally sounds like I'm 2-stepping when I'm actually moving. I also heard vtec doesn't engage if the vss is bad, although I might be wrong. But I'm pretty sure the vss is the problem.

I'm gonna inspect the vss after class tomorrow. Can cleaning the vss prevent me from having to buy a new one? Also, thanks for the suggestions and help guys.
