Like it said I'm thinking i have bad syncs. LS tranny grinds like a ****' in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd every time. It also will only go in 3rd from 2nd. I checked my clutch fluid but i haven't stuck my finger in the transmission yet

I also don't know much of anything about cars, just would like to be a do it myself kind of girl.

 

I read a "google books" thing that said it was caused by a problem in clutch or tranny so if i replace syncs will the same thing happen again?

it also said oil viscosity can affect smooth shifting, the problem was only sometimes in 3rd when i got the car, my brother has been using it to drive to work and now it is 1,2,3 gear.

 

Syncros are shot, if you rebuild you will need to replace the syncros, and possibly the dog ears and springs, I work at a trans shop and build them all day, the biggest problem is lose of oil, and hard shifts, you can put heavy duty syncros but its harder to rebuild Honda/Acura 5 speed trans, it is easier to buy a rebuilt tranny, if it were your clutch it would even let you drive it

 

Oh, alright. Would i just find a rebuilt transmission off of ebay?
