Default front end clunking

I have a 1995 Accord, standard transmission, that started (rather suddenly) to make a strange rhythmic clunking sound during acceleration. It seems to be coming from under the passengers floor although it is hard to pin point the exactly where it is coming from. I can only reproduce the sound on acceleration, not during down shifting, not in neutral, and only in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. The only way to stop the sound is to take my foot off the gas. I replace the drive axle assembly but the sound is persisting. The wheel feels tight with little play so I don’t think it is a wheel bearing. The sound is no different when turning or going over bumps. I can not feel any vibrations from the steering wheel or coming from the gear shifter. I am not sure if this is a transmition problem, drive train or suspension. It’s a sound that I have never heard before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you checked your Mounts? Specifically the Trans mount for play.

It seems like a tricky problem to solve, I had a mechanic at work look at the car and he suggested trying to change the left axle assembly but i am not to convinced. It may be the logical next step though.

Is the rhythmic clunking SPEED SENSITIVE? As you go faster, the pitch and frequency increase. This directly points to a wheel bearing or something close by it. Also check caliper and pads for warpage.
If it decreases when you shift and regains pitch and frequency as you accelerate in each gear then it is something in your engines rotating assembly. Check harmonic balancer, belts and pulleys.

can you post a short video of the noise?

The rhythmic clinking definitely increases frequency as my speed increases, the pitch does not seem to change much. I have checked my calipers and pads and have not noticed any warping. My belts and pulleys seem to be fine. As far as a wheel bearing shouldn't I be able to notice some play in the wheel when in is jacked up, or feel some kind of connected vibration with the noise? I will check the harmonic balancer. I am not sure how to post a video of the noise on this thread. I will see if I can figure it out though.
