How do I salvage my car?
In January some idiot backed into the quarter panel of my EG. Turns out, that was enough damage to total it. This has led me to a dilemma. I know that the only way to register this car again is to go through a DMV or CHP inspection.
My EG has a B20 swap. I also have a momo steering wheel that obviously gets rid of the drivers side airbag. I was wondering if anyone knows what the DMV inspector actually inspects and what would cause them to refer me to CHP. Am I totally screwed?

I dont know if its different or the same but i had a friend whos hatch was salvaged and it didnt have air bags so he could swap out steering wheels and it wasnt a problem. Granted it was a few years back.. but once the car is totaled you have to do a brake and light inspection and they make sure everything is good and working. you only have to do it once after its totaled.
If the car is already registered under your name all the chp is gonna do is going to do a vin inspection and jist tell them you plan on reffing it don't tell them the truth even if the cop seems cool
