Found a civic hatch need help!!
i found a 1990 civic dx hatch in my area for sale.
it has a B18 non vtec with a Y1 lsd trans
skunk 2 intake
converted to 0bd1
The car is all stock other than the motor swap.
it has the stock rims
car has a little rust but nothing to bad, Very good condtion for the area.
the car has a couple issues, seems it leaks a few drops of oil when parked, maybe rear main or oil pan, the guy removed the wipers so i will have to get a wiper motor and arms.
He wants 3k. Im not sure its worth 3k. what do you guys think? i have an 08 civic si so im not in a big hurry to buy, i just want something i can tinker with, thanks

That's your decision. I still wouldnt. If you decide to make sure everything is strait and no messed up wiring, or frame damage, engine runs good and doesn't smoke, things like that. Its clean title correct?

i have drove it. its got a clean title doesnt smoke. pulls great and shifts great. has a great clutch in it. excedy stage 2. i just cant find anything in the indiana area for under 3k that is swapped, and if i do its a hack job.
You guys should see the cars listed in my area, everyone wants an arm and a leg for any hatch, they are hard to come by in this area. search the indiana craigslist and see what you get. lol
Then why are you asking anyone here if you already know what similar cars sell for in your area?
It's always funny when ricers do common swaps into otherwise raggedy Civics and act like that suddenly makes it worth a ton of money and then try to sell it for that ridiculous amount. The hilarious part is that it looks like he was originally asking $4k.
OP - instead of overpaying for that raggedy looking hatch, you could afford to travel a bit to get a much nicer un-molested EF from the south or west coast.
Don't see many gold EF's though, so gold DX FTW. I love mine

I like your hatch. Makes me want to buy this one.
Its really not a bad deal @ 2700 I don't think because its got a b swap and a really good trans that is lsd.
if I find a clean hatch I will probably end up giving between 1500-2000 for a stock one around here and then I will have to swap it and I will have more in it than I want to have. If I had the time and money I would for sure go out to cali and get a hatch. Since we just had a baby that's not really in the cards and plus my budget is tighter that's why I want to find one swapped.

oh ya then will you sell me your hatch for 2700???
I wouldn't go as far as this is a raggedy civic, better than most Ive seen.
It just needs cleaned up and for sure some different wheels. lol

Heck no :p I've got more than double that in mine (pretty much fully restored)
Good luck with this one though. I really don't know if I could do the no AC though, at least down here. I just earlier this month did my entire AC system with all brand new parts except the hard lines. It's so nice to have an EF with good AC

the ac inst to big of a deal to me, it for sure gets hot here in the summer, but i wont drive this everyday, probably switch between it an the Si(cold AC)lol
I here of people in my area getting good deals on swapped hatchbacks but i can never seem to find one when i have the cash. lol

you keep shooting down any reason not to buy it, so what's your hesitation? if you have the money and you think you're getting a good deal based off local average prices, then sack up and just buy it.
it's YOUR money/car.. why would you honestly give a **** what people on the internet say?
the amount of hand-holding that goes on around here makes me sad.

meh, i'm just a grumpy guy
but seriously, people gave their opinions.. and then you subsequently shot each and every one of them down. you obviously want the car.. so why wait for a certificate of approval? unless you plan on giving me the car for my birthday, why should my opinion matter?

sounds like you're looking for something that you'll have to do very little up keep too. I just typed in civic on cl under indianapolis, there's a ton a civics for sale for under 2500 dollars.
I'd say get it, it does seem really clean, and visually there's almost no rust on it.
if it is too much there's this:

this:
http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/3029892537.html <----- that would actually be fun to tinker with, to take apart and what not
this would be good to pick up too:

lol. $1400 is about $1100 to much.
You are right i do want one that is for the most part ready to go. I have swapped many of hondas in my day..lol But with having the baby now time in the garage is a little hard to come by, so one already being swapped would be great. I had a really nice 93 hatch GSR turbo a couple years back and i sold it to get a rocket, regretted it ever since. I has alot of time and money in that car.

UPDATE: The hatch has a salvage title, so its a no go. I put a post on the market place looking for one, so maybe some one will contact me. thanks for all you guys input.
