Gsr weird noise no power
Ok I have a 99 gsr sedan all stock motor wise. The car runs great and drives great no problems, and only cel is for my cat efficiency. Any way in high rpms in 1st it's ok not as much power as it should have and it's shuts down at like 7200 but then I hit second it falls out of vtec and has trouble revving back up and makes a weird sound like a belt shredding kinda sound or like lma's or something idk exactly how to explain it but all belts are fine. I have no idea exactly what it is just seein if anyone else has had this problem. Any help appreciated
Your cat could be plugged.
Mine made a weird noise in vtec and like a pinging noise randomly through the lower RPM range.
Plugged cat will give you too much back pressure and cause your intake temp to skyrocket.

Yeah I thought about that but this is a motor sound and was doing it before the code was thrown, I wish I could explain the sound better but I really can't lol it sounds like.....lma's is the best I can describe it and you can kinda feel it catching.... Idk
I thought it was the same thing when my cheap aftermarket one plugged up last year. If you etested the car right now your nox would probably be through the roof.
Problem went away after I put in a new one, Power returned as well.
Word of the wise if you can afford it, spend the money and buy good quality one. I have had nothing but problems with the cheap direct fits from local stores. I replaced it with the same brand $250 direct fit cat and the guts blew up 6 months later.
i removed my cat after realized it was the one reason my car was losing power, went straight pipe...now im chirping to 3rd gear,,,,i put a resinator inplace of cat, and a cherrybomb turbo muffler for an exhaust tip, to quiet the loud noise you would get
Buy a thermal test thermometer and read pre and post cat. If the numbers are dramatically low your cat will need replacing. A cat doesn't just fail, unless its been flashed by cold water and has seperated. Or another engine problem has caused it to fail
