Default How much fluid do I need?

I want to change my tranny fluid. How much fluid do I need?

I also want to change the coolant. I have a stock cooling system. How many gallons would I need?

Thanks in advance for any info.

you'll need 3 quarts for the tranny and 2 gallons for the cooling system.

You'll need 2.2 litres of tranny fluid and about 4 litres of coolant.

The coolant is a bitch to change cause the rad takes forever to fill up (you have to fill slowly). Remember to rid the new coolant system of air bubbles by letting the car warm up with the rad cap off.

I use the long funnel method to change the tranny fluid.

an idea for the tranny fluid is to buy clear plastic flexible tube from home depot. Make sure the diameter will fit snug onto an oil funnel.
Once u drain your tranny fluid. Snake the tube from above your engine bay to the fill hole on the tranny. On the other side, place the funnel and just start to fill. I made the tube long enough that I can stand at a comfortable height and fill it. Just make sure to let all of the oil drain from the tube at the last quart.

Thanks everyone for the info.

Do you guys suggest mixing coolant of different brand? I just found one gallon of Prestone and one gallon of Honda coolant in my garage. Should I be cheap mix them?

Don't do it! Resist the temptation to be cheap!

2 gallons for the coolant is the total system capacity. If you have the coolant type that needs to be mixed with water, you'll need only one gal of coolant to one gallon of water. if you have the premixed type of coolant (honda type 2), you'll need two of that. I wouldn't recommend mixing coolant brands... never know what might interact and screw up the cooling system... in fact, I only use Honda coolant in Honda cars. This came from my previous experience with BMWs and learning that you should only use BMW coolant in their cars.

edit: point of clarification... double checked the helms... total system capacity= 5.0 U.S. quarts. I just bought 2 gallons of type 2 Honda coolant(premixed) yesterday at the local dealer for $27.
