Default Need help making my car go faster haha

Alright so I am gearing up for the Sport Compact Nationals here in Ohio (Norwalk) on June 3rd and would really like to get my car into the 10s finally. So far the best it has ran has been an 11.64@126. However on that run we noticed on the logs that I lost 13lbs of boost and 5k rpms on the 1-2 shift, hello bogging. I am not sure what caused this, it could've been the terrble track conditions (unprepped and mid 40* temps), could be a driver error, idk honestly. Anyways I am going to my local track this week for some T&T beore taking the car up to Norwalk and need some advice. That is where you come in lol.

I am curious as to what rpm everyone launches at, how much boost you're building on 2step, what suspension, boost by gear settings, tire pressure, ect...My local track isn't the best so I figure if I can get it going faster here then it will only help with going faster at better tracks, i.e Norwalk and MIR. One guy I raced against went back home to Cincy and picked up .4 on his ET and 4mph on his trap without changing anything if that tells you anything.

I know the car has more then 11.6 in it as it made 517/340 on 17lbs. Just needing some advice in order to get it going faster before we turn the boost up. Here is some info on the car as well as time slip breakdowns, maybe you can give me some adviceo n the timeslips as well.

Car:
1994 Integra GSR Sedan
Full interior, 10pt cage and 275lb driver
PTE 6262
24.5x9x13 Hoosiers on Lenso VPD's
Ground Control/Koni Yellows (I'll have to check spring rates later today)
No traction bar
GSR Trans with MFactory LSD
No boost by gear setup
6psi in the slicks

Slips:
1.803
5.100
7.691
98.12mph
9.883
11.695
125.47mph

1.884
5.169
7.699
101.32mph
9.853
11.641
126.48mph

Also the car does not do burnouts for dick lol. Here is a video of it going 12s on a shakedown pass but notice the lack of smoke coming off the tires. Idk if I am not sitting in the box long enough, not revving high enough, not doing in the right gear (2nd gear) or what the hell the deal is.

I just thought of this as well, would corner balancing be beneficial? I can have this done by someone local, should I get it aligned any certain way, with the slicks on or does it matter?

There's a couple things i see right off the bat from watching the video. For the burnout, hold the revs up longer then slip the clutch out, that should fix your issue.

Your short track is terrible as it looks like you are shifting into second way too soon.

^^This is the type of stuff I am looking for. Constructive critisism is just fine with me, if it helps me go faster.

On the 12.4 shakedown pass (2nd pass of trailer on new power levels) the breakdown was

2.092 (haha told you track was cold)
5.710
8.370
93.99mph
10.594
12.403
126.49mph

i have just recently learned myself how to set up my 2 step/boost

my 60' have been 1.73 with no boost at all lol, and right after i finally got it to build boost in 2 step i spun a bearing ooopsy

ill bet you arent building anything off the line, and we all know your shifting to early these 2 things will increase you dramatically

I build 10psi off 2step...On the video I posted I was leave at 5500 and only building like 2lbs of boost. We then changed the 2step settings and went back to back 11s. I will have to talk to my tuner and see what my 2step settings are at, my computer wont load the Hondata drivers so I can't look and see.

What settings does everyone have their 2step at and how many psi are you building? If I could get even more boost off the line then again I am all for it lol.

I might raise the launch point then, I'm just trying to get as much good information that I can before wednesday so I can try some of this out to see how my car responds to it, I know that no 2 cars arethe same but its nice to have something to try out until you find your cars sweet spot.

1st should sound like

vroooom-pop-pop-shift-vroooooooom

Lol yeah, it is most likely a driver error. Its so hard to hear anything with my helmet on, plus I have only got 5 track passes on the car this year so far

What suspension is everyone on? If you watch the video you see the rear squats a ton and the front lifts every shift. I have a hookup that can get me some Progress Drag Coilovers but not sure if they are any good and if I really need them

lighten your car man, a full interior dc sedan with a cage and a 275lb driver means your car is gonna be close to 3000-3200lbs. Thats a heavy *** honda.

Haha you can't really lighten it that much, when you run FIS you have to keep full interior, I am not gutting a 4dr (that **** looks dumb). The only things that I know of that would help in lightning it would be a CF hood and trunk lid. I am in the process of trying to get back down to 240ish lol. I agree that it is a heavy Honda, prob why no one builds 4dr Integras to drag race haha

Yeah exactly lol honestly I bet if you put that thing in a crx or eg hatch it would HAUL ***. But a integra sedan definitely is an impractical shell for drag. A long as you can accept that though there are other ways to make it faster

Also i just used the wallaceracing 1/4 mi estimator, with you car weighing estimated 3200lbs, making 517 wheel hp it SHOULD be able to run 10.69 at 125.28mph

your trap speed is there, you just need to improve your driving and you can easily dip into 10's

First things that jump right out to me as I read/watch amount to driver inexperience and a little bit of improper setup.

First off: you need to allow your car to build boost both at the line and during the pass. At the launch you need to get your 2step dialed and be consistent enough with your burnouts and launch to collect useful data. 5500 is not adequate rpm to spool turbo. Along with that, a common mistake drivers make is they are so anxious to launch the car that they don't stay on the 2step long enough Pre launch to build adequate boost. Next, I would guarantee that you are lifting way too much....mix all the above with that and is a wonder the car doesn't actually stop completely. Lol. You'll be so much better when you fix these things. Personally I do 2nd gear burnouts (I make about 850/500)

Are your springs preloaded on your suspension? When you jack the car up can you move the spring up and down with your hand? If so, raise the bottom perch up so the spring doesnt move and that will load it. I'm sure you already do it, but if not, that will help immensely. Good luck. You're not far away....just gotta get a couple things dialed in and them practice.

Cheers

1 3rd gear burn out
2 slip clutch HARD
3 low low tire press i run 5 psi in my 15/25.4 cut 1.57 60 foot
4 try 6500ish rpm launch (i leave at 6400 67mm turbo 5-7 psi)
5 preload the **** out of it*

Honestly I put the suspension on 3 years ago when the car was bone stock an was to remain my daily driver lol. Since then I haven't touched it, so I will go to my shop tonight/tomorrow and try adjusting the preload. Should I do that on both the front and rear or just the rear? The car needs an alignment badly, I am waiting to do that til after I get my new wheel bearings/extended studs put in though (hoping to have that done before June 2nd)

I think people are just reading bits and pieces and getting confused. The 12 second pass video was jsut for reference of the bogging ad squating of suspension. I launched at 5500 on this pass as it was my 2nd pass in the car on new power levels and just needed to qualify. Didn't really want to risk breaking on a qualifying pass as I would much rather break on a pass that counted for more then qualifying.

On the 11 second passes I came out of the hole at 7k rpms, the car is built to rev past 9k but we had spark blowout on the dyno that hasn't been fixed so we're making due with what we have to work with. I would have to agree that I shifted too early as I was a bit nervous of breaking stuff on the first time out with the car. I think my nerves have calmed down a bit so I should be able to relax and just drive instead of thinking "oh **** is this the pass that something breaks".

Pretty looks like it has been covered.

1. 3rd gear burnout
2. Make sure you are on the 2step long enough
3.Hold 1st gear longer
4. Dont lift off the gas, make adjustments to 2step
5. Preload

I will put your nerves at ease right here: you will break something. That's a fact of racing and the sooner you come to be comfortable with that inevitability the better you will be able to focus on getting those tenths of seconds out of your car.

Preload both front and rear suspension
