Timing/Dizzy/Help
1990 Honda CRX Si
D16a6
So today I learned my timing was off a little, my car would misfire occasionally
and sputter down the road, struggle up hills, jerk and pull.
So I decided to correct it.
I followed numerous DIY guides in attempt to adjust my timing.
After putting the crank TDC. I noticed that the cam pulley was almost upsidedown and I'm wondering..... what in the world....
So I slide the timing belt off, turned it to where its suppose to be, and put the belt back on.
Now all the car does is turn over, no startup.
I've checked and checked and checked and when I put the crank to TDC the cam pulley is is the correct position with the up going up and the 7 o'clock at the 7 o'clock.
I've checked the firing order maybe 95 times, I even tried it in ways its not suppose to.
I've adjusted the dizzy 30 plus times trying to see it that had an effect.
All sparkplugs and wires are sparking. Rotor buttons fine.
Timing belt is fine.
I have no clue on earth whats going on can someone shed some light?

You turned your camshaft 180* out... The crankshaft rotates TWO times to the camshafts ONE rotation... Also the D16A6 has a notch on the timing cover to align with the "off" mark on the camshaft sprocket.
So what exactly are you saying to do?
Take the timing belt off and rotate the crankshaft around one time?
Putting the crank at TDC and then leave the Camshaft at the 7 o'clock
where its at right now?

How do I fix it, I need a step by step.
Anyone? its 12:46am I'm ready to work... I need my car.

What is there to explain? Put it back to the way you had it before you decided to start playing with things that you obviously had no business touching in the first place... Run-on anyone? I am not there to see how bad everything is or isn't. Follow the write-up/diagram for the CRX/Civic Si... Put the camshaft Aligned right with the word "UP" on top. Make sure the number one cylinder is at TDC. Put the timing belt on. Its really that simple.
I don't mean to be rude...
I know there's a mark on the cover...
I know the cam pulley goes where the "UP" is facing ....up.
I've set the crank pulley at TDC and the set the Cam pulley to TDC.
I've followed every guide I can google...
They way It was on before I touched it I don't remember.
Should I have touched it probably not... but I did.
The car was running like crap....every time I go up a hill I have to Downshift to make it up it.

I would double check your firing order again, matter of fact take a pic of what you have and post it. You never know, some people misunderstand what the "front" of the engine is.
Having said that AND your firing order is indeed correct, you probably bent some valves when you moved the camshaft the first time. If you can, do a compression test.

Simple, from your description you put the crank at TDC which means that #1 and #4 are at the top of their stroke. You then spun the camshaft 180degrees independently of the crankshaft because you thought you needed to. Valves do open and close while you turn a camshaft and if the piston is at the top of it's stroke and is stationary then what do you think will happen?
I can't say with absolute certainty that this is what happened. That's why I suggested doing a compression test to see if ALL cylinders have adequate compression to even fire up.
All else being equal, if you have spark, compression, and fuel it should fire up. You said you have spark, I'm assuming you visually confirmed this by grounding each plug wire. You say you checked firing order 95 times, benefit of the doubt and you got it correct. So what's left?
Maybe you're like my buddy "newb" (no joke I call him that). On his first rebuild on his car he couldn't get it to fire up and I kept asking him about the firing order and he swears it's correct because he never removed the plug wires from the distributor cap. After a few hours I finally had to see for myself and guess what? His firing order was incorrect even though he SWEARS he never messed around with the wires. And this is why I said take a pic and post it. Maybe you do have it wrong and just don't know it...like "newb" LOL

That makes alot more sense to me.
This weekend I'm gonna try and check everything, take some pics of my dizzy n show you how I got it hooked up, and I'll get back to you.

No compression in cylinders 4 3 and 2.
Cause bent valves.
P.S - More research prevents engine failure.... You live and you learn.
Next step DOHC ZC here I come.
Thanks for the replies.
