Default Is this noise related to the tbelt replacment that I did?

1991 Accord 5speed.

I replaced TBelt, water pump, seals, and belts. Got everything put bach together and all seemed well. My wife has been driving the car and then she started complaining that the car doesn't have the correct pickup and that it is making a noise while under load during acceleration. I drove it and I noticed the noise also. Sort hard to describe....it is sorta a faint "tinking" sound....somewhat like the car would sound if you were going too slow for the current gear you were in. Sorta like the car is knocking. Keep in mind....the noise is very faint...if on a scale of 1 to 10....with 1 you can't hear and 10 being a loud embarassing noise....this noise would be a 2.5.

I was wondering if my timing belt is off by one tooth? Is there a way to confirm if I am off by a tooth without pulling everything back apart?

You help is appreciated.

You are pinging, timing is off.

If the car is running good at idle and you only hear this "pinging" under acceleration, than yes, like the above guy said, your timing is likely off.
Keep in mind were talking about ignition timing, not the position of the actual timing belt.

There are other issues that can cause pinging, which is actually mild detonation, or pre-ignition, but being you did a TB job ignition timing is the most likely culprit.

If you want to confirm the belt is timed, just set the crank at the tdc mark, remove the upper belt cover and check your cam gear position.

actually checking the timing would indicate if the timing belt is off. if you check the ign. timing and it is out of spec.....did you adjust it? how did it change? if the timing belt is out of time then the timing would be out of spec. you can recheck the timing belt by removing the valve cover, setting the crank to tdc and looking at the back of the cam sprocket. there should be two lines that will line up with the deck of the cylinder head. Let us kno the balance shaft may be off time too.
