Chance to Buy a 2000 ITR. need help
Hey guys i figured this would be the best place to post this question. I have the chance to buy a 2000 Fbp r with a JDM front end. IT does have a salvage title but does come with the original motor and transmission. also has full USDM interior. the car has 95000 miles on it and the guy is looking to get 7500 for it. it seems like a good deal to me but just wanted to get some more opinions. I am looking to purchase this car to be my DD so I am not too worried about the salvage title. It will be driven every day and I am not buying it as an investment.
Thanks for the help guys

yes the price seems good, but first find out why its salvage, accident or theft, then make sure all repairs were done properly, then check the car out like any other used car, make sure nothing is wrong or be aware before purchase of anything that is wrong
and most important make sure your insurance company will allow you to insure a salvage title car because some dont, and also make sure you can get full coverage, and verify payout incase of a total loss incident, you dont want to pay 7500 for the car then something happens to the car, only to find out insurance is only gonna you 3 grand cuz the car has a salvage title

Also you need to know that 1, they will not pay blue book incase of total loss or theft and 2 most insurance companies wont pay out to fix the car, say your rear end some one and do 1200 in damage. Your parts are not Honda Of America OEM parts, and 99 percent of the time they will not cover them. Make sure you cover all bases, and make sure he has receipts.
you can cover extra insurance for the jdm front as i do on mine you pay so much per 1000 or something to the effect just check with your insurance company to cover all basis and to cover your front you have to carry full coverage plus the additions or in my state you do
might be a good deal, might not. the above post is correct, you really need to find out why the title is branded. if it was repaired at a real body shop or a theft recovery that's fine. i would avoid backyard pound out fixes like the plague
also compression test the engine
also compression test the engine
thanks for the help guys i will make sure to check with the insurance company because i will want full coverage for sure. i found out more about the car it was salvaged due to theft. the whole interior was stolen. and then replaced with all oem interior pieces.
unless you get a declared value policy full coverage on a salvage title will only cover a % of book value.
you can verify this on carfax...well...kind of anyway. accidents are often recorded as accidents. things like theft get listed as incidents or other such things. i have the carfax for my gsr buried somewhere. it was a theft recovery and did not have an accident listed on the report
car sounds like a screaming deal provided the engine has good compression. interior thefts are the absolute **** for good deals. you save some cash over a clean title and have a car that's never been wrecked

Yeah, theft is better then accident but at the end of the day its still got a salvage title.
Make sure they did they front end conversion right. I had a 99 ls that I had a body shop put a jdm itr front end on, and it looked perfect. Ive seen some back yard jobs and its terrible.
Just go over it with a fine tooth comb, get the car fax, and get all the records that you can. Take your time, drive the car for at least 30 mins so no bugs pop up, etc etc etc.
Good luck, post up some pics.
