95 Del Sol Brake problem
As I was driving down the road I came to a light, as I stepped on the brake pedal, I realized it almost went to the floor and the brakes were not as powerful at all.(took awhile to slow down) As I got closer to home I heard a noise coming from the rear drum brakes. I know I have to replace them soon, could that be the problem? I heard it could be the master cylinder but I checked my brake fluid level and it was fine( in the middle of max and empty) Any tips of any kind would greatly be appreciated, Thanks.
no leaks from the wheel cylinder. As soon as i removed the drum, a spring fell to the ground. could that be the problem? im looking at diagrams and pictures online of drum brakes and i cannot figure out where it goes. i guess the hooks on each side are kind of long, and straight about equal distances on both sides and the spring part is small.
When that happened to me my wheel cylinder broke in half and then as soon as I pulled the passenger side drum apart the other wheel cylinder broke as well lol. If the del sol brakes are similar to the civic drums take a look at this : http://www.civicforums.com/forums/43...placement.html
I just replaced mine last week and I used it as a guide to see what I had to do before taking the drums apart. There should be 3 springs total. One going across both shoes on the top, a small spring going across the shoes on the bottom and the 3rd one connects to a clip on one of the shoes.
