Default Certified Warranty - Extension

Had a cold start (2 minute) noise, which I took into the dealer twice for determination. Twice they blew me off and stated that they could not find it even after I could hear it when I left the dealership when they just completed the 70K mile service. This was before the warranty expired 1000 miles ago. This past week, after a 120 mile drive, the noise returned with a vengence and went continual. It was the AC compressor clutch (at least). When I got home the clutch was so hot that when I shut the motor off it melted through the belt.

In your experience, will they honor the warranty because of my due diligence? They're requiring me to get it towed into the dealer for determination. If it is not covered by warranty, after the level of service I have received thus far, they will not be making the repair and I will then have to tow it home.

Anything is possible. They COULD do a goodwill service, especially if you have history with them, but there's no telling at this point....
